3. TOTOM 2004 will be held September 9-11 in Ashland. Friday evening's social event will include attending a Shakespeare play.

4. TOTOM 2005 will be held in the Monmouth/Salem area. Dates and specific location will be finalized at TOTOM 2004.

5. The following topics were suggested for TOTOM 2004:

6. OCTM report (Martha Van Cleave)
Please encourage more pre-service and beginning teachers to join. Remind them 1st year teachers are eligible for a free membership. Also there are reduced rates available for those that are members of both OCTM and Science teachers. Math Leaders would like some college and university faculty to present sessions on best practices and research at next year's meeting. Martha also distributed TOMT copies to use in recruiting members.

7. ORMATYC/AMATYC report (Ilga Ross)
There are reduced rates available for graduate students to join AMATYC ($10). There is also a special rate ($30) for adjunct faculty--half of the regular membership. ORMATYC is also a bargain at just $8 per year. This year's AMATYC conference will be in Salt Lake City. ORMATYC will be on the coast again at Inn at Spanish Head.

8. Oregon Invitational Math Contest Report (Gary Parker)
The taskforce was formed and met 3 times last year (fall, winter, and spring). Members included representatives from TOTOM, community colleges, PSU, OSU, U of O, Willamette, and OCTM. They agreed change is needed, specifically: more consistency from year to year, clarifying the goal of the contest, setting eligibility requirements, and establishing a steering/planning committee that would provide consistency from year to year. Discussion of the goal focused on whether the purpose of the contest is to recognize and/or determine the best mathematics student(s) in the State or to provide an interesting day in mathematics for interested and/or talented students. There was agreement that elements of both is desirable. The taskforce recommended a committee be formed that oversees the contest annually and provides some consistency. They recommended it be appointed and/or directed by OCTM. OCTM is not anxious to take on that task. After some discussion, it was agreed that OMEC would discuss the possibility of appointing/directing such a committee at it's upcoming October meeting. Taskforce looked at Southern Oregon Mathematics league as a possible model. They recommended involving more of the public and private universities, including WOU, EOU, and U of Portland.
